WHAT DO THE CRITICS SAY?
“Joshua Castro’s songs are humorous, unique and original, sounding different from everything else being played in the media.”
– American Songwriter
“Castro does his hair all wrong. He isn’t costumed properly.
He has a sweet voice, but not much of it.
And I’ve seen better dancing…
But a delightful thing happens when he comes on-stage.”
“Listen to his songs and you’ll appreciate Joshua Castro’s original style and enjoy his work! He has a bright future ahead of him!”
– Contact In The Desert
“Joshua’s performances gives people sensations. He takes his ideas and makes them feel sensational.”
“Amazing talent all around. Wishing Joshua Castro great success in his creative endeavors.”
– Eclectic Music Festival
“Wonderful nonsense!”

Good luck on his future adventures!
– Jazzafair
“Musically, Joshua Castro has some interesting stuff.”
– The Syncopated Times
“I am very fond of the chipper pop/jazz/show music styles
of the 1920s and 1930s, and admire Joshua Castro’s embrace of the swell old-timey stuff in doing his songs with original lyrics, while borrowing the melodies and spirit with new words.
Joshua has some clever lyrics and creative ideas for
subject matter, pairing ancient music with very contemporary topics in the lyrics. And I hope that he’ll be able to put them in the best light vocally and instrumentally.
I wish Mr. Castro success and continued inspiration and look forward to his future recordings and news.
– Talkin’ Broadway
“We wish Joshua Castro the best of luck and thank him for bringing his unique music to the world.”
– Monrovia Music Fest
“Joshua Castro is awesome! I can see he is passionate for his music. While his voice is untrained, he has a clear passion and audiences resonate with his stories. In every song, he reveals something about his character (or himself). His performances are about expressing his soul in a real way. People will either get him and love him, or be disturbed by his sincerity. Joshua’s not really a singer, but it’s not really about the songs. It’s about him. Not because he’s special, but just because he is authentically himself.”
– Scot Nery’s BoobieTrap
“There are many fine queer shows and performers in Los Angeles. Not every one of us can possibly be in every production. Not a single one of us is right for every show. Some of us have a much wider performance range than others. Some of us have more experience than others. And some of us are simply more talented than others. Some crossover is bound to occur. This crossover is not absolute or every show would be exactly the same. It’s all good.
Joshua Castro is simply a fine performer, but not fine enough for the Gay DD.”
– Gay D.D. Los Angeles
“We wholeheartedly enjoyed Joshua Castro’s set! So good.
It’s been an honor to witness him grow over the years and he is phenomenal with his authentic self. Joshua’s look, the moves, and catchy tunes are lovely and it was queer to the fullest. Thank you for rocking our stage and kicking off Pride month with us!”
– Sunday Jump

“Joshua Castro has really grown as a performer. He has a great command of the material and storytelling. Congratulations.”
– Land R. (Pasadena, CA)
“Joshua Castro is excellent! What a hoot! I could watch him for hours. And what a good crowd he always has watching. I wouldn’t have the guts to be on-stage! I’m so proud of him. FAB-O.
He definitely entertains me.
Oh, and his performances are always the best. Even when he fucks up the lyrics, it’s totally cute. It’s like giving a great performance on SNL and then breaking character. GOLD.
The way the audience gets up and claps and cheers him on is so inspiring. I love his speeches in between the songs. I think the crowd really gets a kick out of him. It takes guts to be on-stage in front of everyone. I live with a lot of anxiety and I wish I could be the presence that Joshua is every time he gets up on that stage.”
– Brian F. (St. Louis, MO)
“Great songs. So cute. Joshua does a great job. His public speaking and communication with the audience is outstanding. Plus he acts very sexy for them. He looks beautiful.
His performances are great. He puts a lot of action and joy into it. Great musical background and dance moves. Awesome.
He shares happy personal stories about himself. So inspiring.
Excellent job. Keep it up, Joshua.
You have what it takes. You got it!”

“Great job, Joshua!!! He keeps his spirit up and doesn’t seem flustered by tech issues. High energy and really connected to his audiences. If you didn’t know him in real life, he’d seem almost extroverted. Wonderful. Love him.”
– John B. (Alhambra, CA)
