The Verge of Ecstasy chronicles the life of Johnathen Alvarado from his tumultuous childhood to the hidden lavender years of his early twenties at the turn of the 21st century.
Born the son of Brenda Barajas, an unapologetically single, professional, Johnathen struggles to affirm his own identity, both personal and sexual, while still tethered to his mother’s expectations of the American dream.

2025 Update:
The debut novel, The Verge of Ecstasy, was first scheduled for a 2020 publication. A single draft copy was printed in 2019 by CLI but never finalized or released. And then COVID-19 happened.
The project was shelved and collected dust these past five years. Hopefully someday soon the novel will be completed and published.
